Christopher Wheeldon includes some clever ballet references in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
For example in Act III, the Queen of Hearts dances a hilarious spoof of the Rose Adagio from The Sleeping Beauty, although her cavaliers are far less willing! The Rose Adagio is considered one of the greatest challenges in classical ballet as the ballerina has to perform heart stopping balances en pointe.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is only onstage for six more performances http://bit.ly/MPldVw.Heather Ogden and Jonathan Renna in The Sleeping Beauty. Photo by Bruce Zinger. Greta Hodgkinson and McGee Maddox in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Photo by Cylla von Tiedemann.
